The "Five Hundred" is a personal challenge to invest $500 in the stock market with the objective of "profiting" from this activity. This is possibly the worst time to take on this challenge. The three major market indices have pulled back significantly ( a "bear" market?). Inflation at a forty year high. And a threat of recession looming on the horizon.
There is no "expertise" brought to this exercise. Our past investments in the markets have been mostly passive with marginal successes along with notable failures. There is no strategy to be applied here other than the constraints of having a very small account. If there is any kind of strategy at all, it is to consume as much information as possible about "markets" in general and apply the resulting "instincts" to the task.
This exercise is NOT investment advice. Rather it is a journal; "consuming information", "digesting" it, and apply the resulting "instincts" to specific investments.
Our first investment was a "swing" trade of 50 shares of Antero Midstream (AM) at $10.05 per share on 04/26/2022. We sold these shares two days later for $10.55. We invested $502.50 and sold for $527.50 for a "profit" of $25.
So why AM?
